At KPMG, giving back is an essential aspect of life and an integral part of our values, culture, and Impact Plan. Through the KPMG Foundation, we want to give our people the opportunity and time to make a real difference in the community and for charities they care about. By giving every person the opportunity to submit a volunteer project, we aim to motivate everyone to get actively involved and make an impact.
KPMG Foundation Project
Founded in 2016 by Savina de Laveleye, Equi-Libres is a unique center dedicated to equi-therapy and reconnection with nature, offering both leisure and therapeutic activities involving horses and ponies.
Known as equi-therapy, these activities use the presence and interaction with horses as a complement to medical support. Equi-Libres provides services to children and adults, using the bond between humans and animals to foster personal growth and emotional well-being.
At Equi-Libres, activities are designed to help participants develop sensory awareness, strengthen relational skills, and experience a sense of release. This form of therapy enables individuals to work on self-confidence, manage emotions, enhance personal leadership skills, and learn to communicate more effectively.
Through this project, the KPMG Foundation aimed to support Equi-Libres in their mission to enhance the lives of those they serve by improving the facilities to ensure a safe and welcoming space for these impactful interactions.
Making an impact
On Thursday, October 24, 2024, KPMG volunteers gathered at Equi-Libres for a dedicated day of service, rolling up their sleeves to help maintain and enhance the organization’s facilities. The volunteers team contributed in various ways, completing hands-on tasks to ensure that the animals and those visiting Equi-Libres could continue benefiting from a welcoming, safe, and well-maintained space.
Tasks accomplished by the KPMG volunteer team included:
- Installing new fencing to secure animal areas
- Assisting in construction projects, such as building a new grainery and a sheep shelter
- Recovering materials by removing nails from old beams for repurposing
- Undertaking cleaning tasks to enhance the facility's appearance and safety
- Feeding and caring for the animals
We are incredibly grateful for our volunteers who continue to seize opportunities to make a real difference. By working #Together, we achieve so much more, building stronger connections and supporting our community in meaningful ways.
