Choosing a college over a university for a more practical approach to my studies was a decision I made to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and applying it in the real world. As a young student, I also wanted to understand various domains rather than one specific field to acquire a diverse set of skills and enrich my career path. That’s why choosing a KPMG internship was an obvious choice for me. It was a logical first step in my career to join an international company that shares the exact same values as I do.
I was very fortunate to join the Managed Services department in Zaventem and to become part of a multidisciplinary team of colleagues with various backgrounds. Contrary to initial expectations that integrating into such a large company might be challenging, I was warmly welcomed by my supervisor, Lucas Yuksel, whom I would particularly like to thank. Lucas played a pivotal role during my internship, providing guidance through regular weekly meetings and, ultimately, helping me secure a job within the team!

I feel like I've never left school because I'm learning every single day. Whether it's through the variety of projects I'm involved in, or thanks to the learning environment that KPMG offers, which encourages its employees to learn continuously to keep improving themselves.
KPMG values wellbeing in its workplace, which is apparent as soon as you enter the building. I feel right at home thanks to the warm atmosphere and colleagues who feel like a real family. Being able to work from home helps to maintain a better work-life balance. My coach also gave me the time to write my thesis during my internship. On top of that, I received advice and feedback from my colleagues, within and even outside of my department.
I've always been rather reserved and timid, especially when it comes to my professional life. Being aware that this could influence my future, I set out to change this aspect of my personality. Joining KPMG was a major turning point in this process. I'm seeing a significant transformation today: I'm taking the leap, initiating interactions, seeking advice, and actively expanding my professional network. My internship at KPMG - and the overall experience - has acted as a catalyst, giving me a level of self-confidence that I could never even have imagined. It’s with gratitude that I acknowledge the benefits of this progression, which has not only enriched my professional career, but has also contributed positively to my daily life outside of work and to my personal growth.
