Annual financial reporting, sustainability reporting, tax and regulatory update for boards

On Wednesday, 25 October 2023, we held our annual financial reporting, sustainability reporting, tax and regulatory update webinar for board members in Belgium.

First, we welcomed Frederic Poesen, an audit partner at KPMG in Belgium and the partner in charge of KPMG’s IFRS Institute in Belgium. He discussed the latest developments in IFRS, including newly effective and forthcoming IFRS requirements.

Then, Steven Mulkens joined us for an update on sustainability reporting, specifically, the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the EU Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). Steven is an Executive Director in KPMG in Belgium’s audit practice, KPMG in Belgium’s Sustainability Reporting lead, and is a member of the KPMG’s Global Climate Change & Sustainability network.

Next, Silvie Broekx presented a tax update, including the latest information on BEPS 2.0, withholding tax, Belgian tax audits and new legislation, and the EU Green Deal. Silvie is a certified Tax Adviser and a Director in the Corporate Income Tax Practice at KPMG in Belgium.

Lastly, Emmanuel Leroux, Senior Counsel at KPMG Law, presented an overview of the latest evolutions in Belgian and EU law that should be on a board member’s radar.
