In 2021, Bekaert decided to restructure its IT department with the goal of making it a digital-enabling structure that supports the business's ambitions. The department, called Advanced Digital Solutions (ADS), needed to be customer-centric, agile, and innovative while maintaining a high level of reliability and excellence in operational processes.
The challenge
Bekaert wanted to raise the maturity of its internal IT processes while keeping the customer at the center of its strategy, but also needed to remain agile enough to support the change and innovation necessary for the business to thrive.
The approach
Bekaert worked with KPMG, who brought their experience and leading practices in the field, to use KPMG's Connected Enterprise methodology to assess the current maturity of the IT organization, align it with Bekaert's digital ambitions, and create a sound operating model and associated governance and processes. This involved assessing their digital transformation maturity through the eight connected capabilities and creating a multi-year roadmap based on clear targets and metrics for improvement.
The result
Using the Connected Enterprise approach, Bekaert was able to make better decisions and pilot investments by prioritizing customer value and ensuring the right capabilities were in place to enable the company's digital transformation. KPMG has been a valuable partner in co-creating an IT strategy and governance that will make Bekaert's digital transformation a success.
