I started my career at KPMG straight after graduating in Audit, where I spent four intense and formative years. I built a strong technical foundation, grew quickly with great coaching, and left with solid skills, confidence, and lasting friendships. The team spirit and spontaneous celebrations are memories I still value.
I then spent a year outside KPMG as a corporate controller to better understand the other side. That experience helped me refine what I was looking for professionally. When I heard about a new Deals & Strategy team in Ghent, I reached out to a former colleague and soon returned to KPMG in November as a Financial Due Diligence Advisor.
Coming back felt immediately familiar and welcoming. The environment is close-knit and approachable, with a strong work hard–play hard mentality and real attention to people.
What stands out most is the culture: fast-paced and demanding, but always supportive. There is space for questions, feedback, and humour, and people genuinely invest in each other’s growth.
As an FDD Advisor, you help clients understand what drives a business, assess risks and opportunities, and support key M&A decisions. The work is challenging and impactful.
Returning showed me that taking a detour can clarify where you add the most value.
