KPMG is a proud sponsor of the 1000 km run, the 100 km run, and 1000 Strokes for Kom op tegen Kanker. Each year, our cycling, running, and golf teams also take part in these events. We are committed to contributing to the work of Kom op tegen Kanker and actively supporting initiatives that make a tangible difference to cancer research and patient care.

Since the beginning of our partnership in 2014, KPMG colleagues have consistently taken part, demonstrating their strong engagement and long-term commitment to the cause.

1000 km for Kom op tegen Kanker

One of Kom op tegen Kanker’s best-known fundraising initiatives is the 1000 km cycling event, which takes place every year over the Ascension weekend. Since 2014, KPMG has been a proud sponsor of this inspiring event, which brings together thousands of cyclists in a shared effort to support cancer research.

Over four days, teams of cyclists collectively complete 1000 km in a relay, supporting one another along the way. The event combines endurance, teamwork, and solidarity, while raising funds for cancer research and patient care initiatives.

The 100 km run is a unique relay event in which teams collectively complete a total distance of 100 km. The challenge is built around teamwork, perseverance, and a shared commitment.

Each team consists of four runners who cover distances of 40 km, 30 km, 20 km, and 10 km, respectively. The first runner sets off alone, with a new teammate joining every 10 km, until all four runners complete the final 10 km and cross the finish line side by side.

This format creates a powerful sense of solidarity, as every team member contributes in a different but equally essential way to achieving their shared goal.

1000 strokes for Kom op tegen Kanker

The 1000 strokes golf challenge is a team-based event in which groups of four to eight golfers aim to complete a total of 1000 strokes in one day.

The challenge combines sport, teamwork, and fundraising, with every stroke helping to support cancer research.

Since 2025, KPMG colleagues have taken part in this inspiring initiative, bringing together their passion for golf and their commitment to the fight against cancer.

      Fundraising events

To participate in one of these events, each team has to raise money by organizing fundraising activities. All proceeds are donated to clinical research projects aimed at improving cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, helping to advance scientific progress and make a meaningful difference for patients and their families.

Our colleagues continue to go above and beyond to achieve our fundraising goals, showing great commitment, creativity, and teamwork in everything they do. Through original ideas and strong engagement across teams, they find new ways each year to maximize their impact and support the cause.

Some examples of fundraising activities organized since 2014 include:

      • A wine and champagne sale
      • A quiz against cancer
