Matthew Woods and his team are driven by helping businesses to restructure during times of financial challenge. He joined KPMG as a Partner in 2009 to establish the Restructuring Services division in Perth, and was promoted to National Partner in Charge in 2013.
Matthew was Chairman of KPMG's Western Australian practice from February 2019 until May 2021.
“It is particularly rewarding when we can successfully restructure a business in the best interests of all stakeholders involved,” he says. Working on restructures with speed, across multiple legal requirements, time zones and with many stakeholders is a challenge upon which Matthew thrives.
He has more than 22 years of experience in the areas of financial restructuring, operational restructuring and insolvency services. He has successfully restructured a number of high profile companies in Australia, specialising in mining, oil and gas, engineering, property and retail. His key focus is on restoring value for stakeholders exposed to distressed situations. In addition, Matthew acts for a wide cross section of financiers undertaking Independent Business Reviews and formal insolvency appointments.
Outside work, he is busy raising three children and enjoys football, cricket, boating, fishing and surfing.
