Elie commenced his professional career as an analyst with Macquarie Capital Advisers in 2007, working on infrastructure project financing transactions in Dubai. His clients spanned the infrastructure and government sectors across the Middle East and Europe, and he was pivotal in completing the funding of the essential infrastructure for the industrial city of Abu Dhabi extension.
In 2010 he joined Deloitte’s strategy and operations practice in Perth, working primarily with top-tier mining companies on large-scale expansion programs across Australia and the World. His highlight engagement was working on Rio Tinto’s Simandou project in Guinea, West Africa where he was posted for 12 months.
In August 2014, Elie moved to Sydney and joined KPMG after their acquisition of Momentum Partners with whom he was contracting, and leveraged his experience in asset-intensive industries and public sector advisory to deliver strategy engagements in mining and utilities.
Today, as the mining sector lead for KPMG Strategy, Elie works with mining clients on corporate development and growth strategy, in particular looking at energy transition opportunities where bulk commodity mining companies diversify into clean energy, critical minerals mining, and downstream production.
