In recent years, Uzbekistan has been undergoing systemic reforms aimed at creating a favorable investment climate and protecting the rights and lawful interests of private property owners. The state actively attracts foreign investments in privatization proceedings, providing numerous opportunities for private capital's participation in the reforms. Annually, the government enacts privatization programs covering large state entities. Investors now have the benefit of acquiring state assets through installment payments and using the acquired property as collateral to obtain loans from financial institutions.

KPMG Law has extensive expertise in advising foreign investors in M&A transactions and facilitating their entry into the Uzbekistan market. We prepare corporate documentation to ensure a desired balance of powers and risks among various investors.

Our recent projects include:

  • Full legal support on the buyer's side in the acquisition of shares in companies involved in telecommunications and the production of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • Issuing legal opinions on investors' concerns regarding transaction peculiarities and risks.
  • Participation in negotiations between parties to align the terms of agreements with local legislation.
