Several of KPMG Law Ukraine’s practices were singled out as being exceptionally noteworthy in the rating, with Litigation ranking third and Tax Consulting ranking fifth overall. Judges highly appreciated the expertise of Sergiy Popov, Partner, and Oksana Olekhova, Partner; recognising them as being among the best lawyers in Ukraine in the field of Tax Law.
Once again, KPMG has also maintained well-deserved leading positions in Corporate Law, M&A, and Energy.
This year also saw a ranking of the largest Ukrainian tax disputes published in the ratings, with two cases from KPMG Law Ukraine included in the top 10. The appeal by CJSC Poltavsky Mining and Processing Plant against a tax notice-decision that was issued based on the results of a tax audit of transfer pricing documentation on controlled transactions was ranked 2nd, while the case regarding Kronospan UA LLC’s appeal against tax notice decisions about applying penalties and claiming debt payments took 9th place. These cases were handled by the Tax Dispute Resolution practice headed by Nataliia Musiienko, Counsel.
KPMG Law Ukraine was ranked 14th among the top-15 Ukrainian law firms in terms of their recognition, with several practice areas identified as leading in their field: Tax Law ranked 1st; Compliance, 2nd; Real Estate, 5th; Corporate Law, 8th; and Energy, 8th.
