SAMPLE CASE 1: RETAIL GROUP - WORKING CAPITAL ANALYSIS

Client Challenge: KPMG was engaged by a retail group, the management of which felt the need to manage cash more efficiently over the group and to have more insight into required funds. Client needed help for insights into short and medium-term cash flow and funds required, and for anticipating expected market changes. 

KPMG Response:

KPMG team completed two work streams (Cash Flow Forecasting, Working Capital Analysis) and helped the client have better insights into cash flow, improved its forecasting processes, provided understanding of the working capital composition, trends and improvement areas. In addition to that, a model to assess the working capital performance of the business units was delivered.

Client Challenge: A client reached out to KPMG because the client’s treasury department was focused on enhancing their practices to leverage the potential of their daily business. The client needed advice on how to improve their processes. 

KPMG Response: Client’s treasury received a full scope benchmarking on their organization, processes, methodology and IT systems with a detailed description of strengths and weaknesses flanked by tangible recommendations. KPMG provided treasury reporting, organizational arrangements focused on segregation of duties, operational framework (authorizations, limits etc.), as-is processes and internal control system, IT functionality and risk management (f/x, interest, commodities), mark-to-market valuation of f/x, interest rate and commodity derivatives.
