When Carlos was nearing the end of his studies at Jönköping University, he wasn’t quite sure what his next step would be – until he met a team from KPMG at school and realized that it was the perfect fit for him. From an early age, he had a passion for numbers and a strong drive to challenge himself, learn and grow. At KPMG, he felt at home right away.
Growing from day one
– I started as an intern but was quickly offered a full-time role as an associate on the audit team. Before I joined KPMG, my only experience with auditing was when I, during my high school years, joined my father on his visits to our family business’s accountant. The work at that small firm seemed interesting and fun, even though I didn’t really understand what they were doing. Maybe the seed was already planted at that first visit as a kid.
Always up for a challenge
– Being curious and a little bit restless is a combination that makes me thrive on new challenges. What’s great about KPMG is that I’m the one that sets the bar for my own performance. It’s a fast-paced job with many opportunities but it’s also a workplace that actively promotes work-life balance.
My way of making a difference
– The easiest way to explain how I make my mark is to say that I am extremely meticulous. I’ll spot any missing or incorrect number in a report. I also ask a lot of questions to fully understand my clients’ business, which makes me a better advisor. On a broader level, my team and I help create a more even playing field for our clients. It’s really a question about ethics – we make sure companies report correctly and comply with applicable reporting frameworks. By doing our job well, we ultimately help build trust among all stakeholders in the market and society at large.
