In September 2015, with the expiry of the Millennium Development Goals, 17 Sustainable Development Goals (more commonly known as the Global Goals or SDGs) were agreed upon by the United Nations. These Global Goals seek to establish a universal framework for global engagement to overcome some of the most pressing issues of the day.

Working alongside clients, KPMG member firms work to find sustainable answers to the pressing global issues of environmental sustainability, education, poverty and equality. Over the past year alone, we have:

continued to support initiatives such as the UN Global Compact (UNGC), the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEP)
extended our commitment at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, with John Veihmeyer, our Global Chairman signing the 'Zero Hunger' pledge
published ‘A New Vision of Values’, a thought leadership report designed to help clients account for their impact and empower them to drive change
extended our Enactus World Cup Sponsorship to six years, supporting students from 36 countries to design and implement effective change projects aligned to the SDGs.
