New Government Incentives for Information and Broadcasting Sector Businesses

(Ministry of Commerce – Notification No. 1538 dated 03 May 2024 on the Incentive Mechanisms for Voluntary Business Registration in the Information & Broadcasting Sector

On 3 May 2024, the Ministry of Commerce has announced new incentives targeted towards businesses (media operators) operating in the information and broadcasting (audio-visual) sector. These incentives include a three-year exemption from paying official governments fees for business registration with the MoC and penalty exemptions for businesses operating within the sector without legal registration.

Media operators refer to all natural and legal persons engaged in providing information and broadcasting-related services in Cambodia, as per Inter-Ministerial Prakas No. 0256 on the Management of Business Registration, Protection of Trademark and Tradename for Information and Broadcasting licenses. According to Notification No. 1829 dated 18 May 2021, media operators include owners of radio and television stations, newspapers, magazines, newsletters, websites, online media, as well as information and broadcasting companies.

This Notification aims to encourage voluntary registration within the Information and Broadcasting Sector and provide benefits for compliant businesses.
