Overview

This course is designed to provide participants with a high-level understanding of essential customs procedures, regulations, and compliance requirements critical to effective customs operations. Through a series of focused sessions, the program will cover vital topics such as customs valuation, tariff classification, licensing and permit requirements, and the application of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs). Special attention will be given to customs audit processes, considerations specifically to Qualified Investment Projects (QIPs), and customs compliance best practices for minimizing risk and ensuring operational efficiency.

The course combines expert-led presentations, interactive discussions, and practical insights to strengthen participants' knowledge and enable them to navigate the complexities of customs regulations with confidence.

  • Customs Audit Procedures: Gain insight into customs audit processes, including typical audit triggers, procedures, and frequently flagged issues such as royalty payments and discrepancies in wastage declarations.
  • Free Trade Agreements (FTAs): Learn how to apply relevant FTAs to benefit from preferential tariff treatment and enhance trade efficiency.
  • Rules of Origin: Understand the requirements for determining origin under FTAs to assess product eligibility for preferential tariffs.
  • Customs Valuation and Related Party Transactions: Understand key customs valuation methods, with a focus on related party transactions and common audit concerns such as transfer pricing and declared values.
  • Qualified Investment Projects (QIPs): Identify key customs considerations and compliance requirements specific to QIP-registered companies, including the use of incentives, reporting obligations, and risk areas.
