Our team is made up of penetration testers, incident responders, threat intelligence experts and security architects.

At KPMG in India, we recognise the value of practical skills and hands-on experience in the field of cyber security. Capture the flag, 2023 provides a platform for participants to showcase their abilities and problem-solving skills in various cyber security domains. We believe this event is for you, if you would like to become a team member of the Cyber Security practice.

The hackathon provides an opportunity for you to share your knowledge and showcase what you can do.

The winners of the hackathon would get the opportunity to work with and learn from the cyber security team at KPMG in India*.

Final year engineering students can apply.

* Please note that participation in this event is not a guarantee of an offer at KPMG in India.

This will include challenges divided into categories such as web application, cloud security, infrastructure security, reverse engineering, OSINT (Open-Source Intelligence) and cryptography. It will be up to you to find the vulnerability or identify the specified flag.

Q: Who can participate in this event?

A: The event is open for students from selected list of universities who have been invited to participate in this event.

Q: Do I need any prior experience in cyber security to participate?

A: No, you would not need any prior knowledge about cyber security to participate in the event.

Q: Is this an online event?

A: Yes, this is a virtual event. The registered participants will receive the details about the event on their registered contact details.

Q: What would I need to participate in the event?

A: Participants would require a laptop with internet access.

Q: Would I need to install a software?

A: None of the challenges would require you to install any software on your system.

Q: Can I participate individually, or do I need to form a team?

A: You would be required to register as an individual. The platform is equipped to monitor duplication of efforts and any submissions that are found to be collaborative will be disqualified. This is not a team event.

Q: Will there be any training or workshops to prepare for the event?

A: No, the event itself is designed to be a learning experience. However, we may share some reading materials or links to publicly available platforms for your practice.

Q: What is the scoring mechanism for the challenges?

A: The event will include challenges that will have different points awarded based on the difficulty of the challenges. Once the candidate solves the challenges a flag will be presented which would have to be submitted onto the platform where it will be tracked.

Q: Would there be any negative marking?

A: The platform allows you to submit a flag a limited number of times for every challenge. Once the limit is crossed the participant will not be allowed to submit the flag. Any brute force attempts detected on the flag submission portal will lead to disqualification.

Q: Will there be any support available?

A: The platform allows you to take hints for every challenge. However, every hint will cost points. There will be open communication channels available to participants if they face any difficulties.
