Five days left until the deadline to register for the EPR scheme

As already communicated in previous newsletters, from 1 July a major change will come into effect concerning the management of waste in Hungary. MOHU MOL Waste Management Ltd. (MOHU) will organize waste management tasks for certain product groups.

Companies must register on the MOHU Corporate Partner Portal and with the Waste Management Authority by 31 May, in accordance with legal requirements.

There are two stages to registration:

Pre-registration with the concession company (MOHU) via their electronic interface.
Registration with the National Waste Management Authority.

Given the fact that the packaging of products also creates an obligation, almost all companies are affected.

In the event of a breach of the Extended Producer Responsibility obligations, the National Waste Management Authority may impose fines and, in certain cases, suspend the marketing of the product in question.
