Transforming the sustainability reporting of an industrial manufacturing company

KPMG Finland is assisting a large international industrial manufacturing company in transforming sustainability reporting towards data, process, control, and systems readiness for the fiscal year 2024. The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (the “CSRD”) which is based on the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (the “ESRSs”) poses legally binding requirements on the client concerning their reporting for 2024 to be published in 2025. 

KPMG has previously assisted the client with their Double Materiality Assessment (the “DMA”) by defining what data they need to report on. KPMG also conducted a Target Operating Model (the “TOM”) analysis, where the data gaps and gaps on the client’s reporting processes, roles and responsibilities, quality controls as well as their supporting technology landscape were analysed on a detailed level. As an output of the TOM analysis KPMG created a comprehensive target operating model for the client’s future vision and a roadmap of how to get there.

After the collaboration on the DMA and TOM analysis, the client selected KPMG as a transformation partner in enhancing sustainability reporting, emphasizing data, process, and systems readiness for the fiscal year 2024. In this phase, KPMG supports in implementing the target state operating model including sustainability data, processes, governance, and technical solutions.
