Achieving sustainable growth and tackling the climate crisis requires solving complex problems with innovative solutions and determined effort. KPMG Finland’s International Development Advisory Services (IDAS) team is passionate to support similar-minded stakeholders with our hands-on experience, innovative tools and unique combination of skills.

We work together with donors, governments, development finance institutions, UN Agencies, multilateral development banks, climate funds, international non-governmental organizations, and many others. Through these experiences, we have become a leading provider of specialist assurance, risk management, and advisory services to the public and private sector in the emerging markets. We carry out assignments across the EU, Africa, Asia, MENA, and Latin America. Our team has worked on site in close to 80 countries around the world.

Our services
We provide expertise and capacity to global institutions operating in the climate finance space. We have specialists in climate and sustainable financing and renewable energy, with long experience in program management and implementation. Furthermore, we support organizations with process streamlining and business development.
With our team’s dedicated expertise in climate change adaptation and mitigation, as well as environmental, social, and governance (ESG) matters, IDAS provides unique experience that can support our partners in achieving their climate objectives.
We support funding agents, managements of organizations and oversight functions through reviews, evaluations, and assessments focused on the functionality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the functions. As a third-party, we provide benchmarking to industry best-practices and fact-based guidance, trainings, and presentations to support senior management in their decision-making. The IDAS team utilizes a broad-ranging suite of practical skills, strategies, and knowledge of the development landscape to support its clients.
We support a wide range of organizations active in the development sector with internal audits and risk management. IDAS aims to be the advisor of choice when clients need on-the ground experience, technical skills, and a global network which can develop and implement strategies that achieve positive change whilst mitigating risks. We conduct internal audit assignments ranging from culture assessments and internal control testing to risk reviews and due diligence, and we assess processes and controls, capabilities, and performance.
We implement global audit contracts with governments, institutional donors, and other development sector actors. Through the audit and assurance assignments, we support donors in ensuring that public funding is used appropriately and effectively. Together with other KPMG teams, we provide assurance services in sustainability and ESG. We also conduct forensic reviews and investigations.

Global IDAS network
IDAS Finland is part of the Global KPMG’s IDAS network that is led by the global IDAS office in Washington, D.C. The global office works with development strategy and policy, finance advisory, governance and organizational design, and SDG-related impacts. KPMG has also established a center of excellence on development issues, the IDAS Institute, which coordinates major engagements across the global network.
