Simon Boling Tønnesen is a Director in KPMG Denmark’s MidMarket department and a State Authorised Public Accountant. He has been an auditor since 2013, working with a broad range of clients, from international listed groups as a group auditor to advising and auditing owner-led SMEs.
He holds an MSc in Business Economics and Auditing and is an Approved Sustainability Auditor. Simon helps companies scale from SMEs to large international businesses by ensuring they are well-prepared for growth, internationalization, and potential exits, whether through IPOs or sales. While financial reporting and compliance are critical, he looks beyond the numbers — engaging as an advisor on all aspects of operations. He works closely with management to identify areas for improvement, optimize processes, and build a foundation for long-term success.
With extensive experience in IFRS, PCAOB audits, and cross-border engagements, Simon helps businesses navigate regulatory complexity and the challenges of international expansion. He ensures that financial reporting is a strategic tool that supports business decisions and builds trust with investors and stakeholders.
Simon believes in transparent and honest communication, ensuring that financial insights are clear, actionable, and aligned with business objectives. His approach fosters collaboration and enables companies to make informed decisions at every stage of their growth journey.
Beyond his client work, Simon is responsible for KPMG’s internal academy for State Authorised Public Accountants. He is also an active member of FSR’s Akademiudvalg and a facilitator in FSR’s Academy for State Authorised Public Accountants, focusing on accounting.
