New division for business performance consulting and new role of Chief Technology Officer

Berlin, July 25, 2024

KPMG AG Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft (KPMG) is creating a business performance consulting division and the role of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at the start of the new financial year. The company is thus meeting the increasing needs of its clients and taking advantage of growth opportunities as they arise.

Rising demand for business performance consulting

On October 1, 2024, KPMG will merge its expertise in business performance consulting in the new Performance & Strategy division. Performance & Strategy will support clients with a bundled and structured consulting offering to increase their profitability and performance. The division meets high client demand as companies need to adapt their business models and structures in the face of high transformation costs and a challenging economic environment.

Meino Müller, who as a KPMG partner has extensive experience with performance and value enhancement programs, will become the divisional head of Performance & Strategy. In addition to Consulting and Deal Advisory, Performance & Strategy complements the range of advisory services in the Advisory division and will be further expanded in terms of personnel. The experts in these areas provide clients with holistic advice, particularly on complex transformation tasks.

"Resilient business performance has become one of the most important objectives for the top management of companies. Capital market-oriented companies are confronted more than ever with the demands of investors to optimize their earnings and liquidity position and capital allocation," says Holger Kneisel, KPMG's Chief Advisory Officer. "With the new Performance & Strategy division under the expert leadership of Meino Müller, we can quickly and pragmatically implement the right solutions together with our clients. Together with our Consulting and Deal Advisory divisions, we offer a comprehensive range of advisory services from a single source for the major transformational challenges facing our clients."

CTO supports customers in seizing technological opportunities

Also on October 1, 2024, KPMG will introduce the position of CTO in order to combine its own technical expertise even more closely with the company's technological expertise and to better meet client needs. The new role will be assumed by Ashish Madan, who will continue to develop KPMG's national and global technology strategy and provide clients with comprehensive advice on strategy and transformation topics. The position of CTO will be at divisional board level.

As the point of contact for CXOs who engage with the topics of technology and data, Ashish Madan will support companies in exploiting technological value creation potential. Working with all KPMG business units, he will expand the firm's advisory offering and deepen collaboration with strategic alliance partners. "Technology is the key for companies to act faster, more effectively and closer to their customers. With Ashish Madan in the newly created CTO role, we are ideally positioned to steer our clients through digital transformations of any complexity and in international markets," says Mattias Schmelzer.

Transformational topics enable growth

In addition to the important core business of auditing financial statements, KPMG sees growing client demand for the major transformational topics. In addition to performance, these include digitalization and sustainability, regulation and transactions. The company combines its proven professional expertise with cutting-edge technologies to create a focused offering. This enables KPMG to exploit significant business opportunities in all business areas.
