Mattias Schmelzer takes office as new CEO and spokesman of the Managing Board of KPMG in Germany
The previous Chief Markets Officer was appointed by the Supervisory Board of KPMG AG in March 2023.

With the start of the new financial year on 1 October 2023, Mattias Schmelzer has taken office as new CEO and spokesman of the Managing Board of KPMG in Germany. The previous Chief Markets Officer was appointed by the Supervisory Board of KPMG AG in March 2023.
As Managing Board member and Chief Markets Officer, Mattias Schmelzer had previously been in charge of the growth areas such as digital transformation and ESG. Alongside that, his responsibilities as Regional Head included business development in Region North (Hamburg). He has been at KPMG since 2003 and has in-depth and longstanding expertise in auditing and advising large, publicly traded groups and medium-sized family businesses across different sectors.
Mattias Schmelzer succeeds Klaus Becker who, following a successful 12-year period as CEO and spokesman of the Managing Board, became Chairman of the EMA Region (Europe, Middle East and Africa) of KPMG International on 1st October.
Mattias Schmelzer is succeeded by Ladislava Klein on 1 October as Chief Markets Officer and Managing Board member. Most recently, as Regional Head she successfully expanded the KPMG Region West (Cologne), applying her extensive client knowledge as member of the leadership team in the Markets division. Ladislava Klein has been at KPMG since 1997 and has held various leadership positions over the past years, including Head of Corporate Tax Services. She will remain in her position as Regional Head for Region West.
