On 19 and 20 December 2024, the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG) published two guidance documents on the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS).
Firstly, a sixth set of answers to 5 questions submitted by users of the ESRS on EFRAG's Q&A platform was published.
The new answers deal with questions on environmental aspects. They concern the following topics:
- Phase-in for value chain information in ESRS E1 Climate change objective disclosures
- Disclosure requirement SBM-3 in ESRS E4 Biodiversity and Ecosystems and when to report it
- Reporting on metrics in ESRS E4 Biodiversity and Ecosystems
A consolidated set of all questions answered by EFRAG to date (now 162 questions) will be published in spring 2025.
The newly published questions can be accessed here.
Secondly, an addition to the list of ESRS data points (IG3) has been published.
The guidance originally published in May 2024 also included an Excel working document that listed all the data points contained in the ESRS. This document is to be updated in spring 2025 based on the supplement.
The additions to the ESRS data point list can be viewed here.
EFRAG's guidance documents are intended to provide guidance on technical implementation issues related to the ESRS (Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2023/2772), but they are not legally binding and are not legislative in nature. EFRAG would like to use them to support preparers in implementing the ESRS.
EFRAG is planning a quiet period for the next few months: Publications of further explanatory notes are not planned until after the reporting season. However, new explanatory notes will continue to be prepared by EFRAG TEG and ERFAG SRB in the meantime.
