Our latest survey shows that ESG risks play a central role for banks. In summary, the following key findings emerged from the survey of over 150 banks worldwide:
- Many institutions are lowering their expectations that they will soon be able to fully fulfil the regulatory requirements for ESG risks.
- The integration of ESG into risk models is perceived as one of the biggest challenges.
- Another key issue is the consideration of ESG risks in economic capital requirements. Institutions rely on standard scenarios from the Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS) for internal ESG stress testing and continue to have difficulties mapping their own vulnerabilities in these.
- Most institutions consider biodiversity risks to be just as relevant as climate risks, but insufficient data makes risk assessment difficult and reduces the quality of materiality assessments.
- Greenwashing risks are increasingly being taken into account, but many institutions still lack suitable processes for handling them.
Our experts offer you detailed insights and practical recommendations to overcome these challenges and optimise your ESG risk management.
