On 6 September 2024, the Institut der Wirtschaftsprüfer in Deutschland e.V. (IDW) published the first five modules of IDW RS FAB 100 (module statement on sustainability reporting in accordance with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS)) as final versions and a further four modules as drafts.

The now finalised five modules cover the central topics of materiality assessment and reporting, in detail:

  • M1.1 - Linking the materiality analysis to the sustainability due diligence process
  • M1.2 - Engaging with affected stakeholders in the materiality assessment in accordance with ESRS
  • M1.3 - Materiality assessment for diversified groups
  • M1.4 - Assessment of the materiality of impacts in the value chain
  • M2.1 - Inclusion of subsidiaries that are immaterial to the consolidated financial statements in consolidated sustainability reporting

The four published draft modules relate to both the central topic area of reporting and the thematic standards ESRS E1- Climate Change and ESRS S1- Own Workforce:

  • M2.2 - Determining the reporting boundaries for the sustainability statement
  • M2.3 - Requirements for reporting on entity-specific disclosures
  • E1-M1 - The concept of ‘operational control’
  • S1-M1 - Disclosure of the gender pay gap in accordance with Disclosure Requirement S1-16 - Remuneration indicators (pay gap and total remuneration)

A consultation phase is planned for the four published drafts until 15 November 2024, during which interested members of the public can comment on the draft.
