In this issue, we have focussed on two topics and prepared them in detail for you: Digitalisation and sustainability.

On digitalisation, we provide a classification of current trends in finance and accounting with a focus on process automation and optimisation, such as artificial intelligence.

Sustainability has long since gone from being a trending topic to a mandatory programme for many companies. In preparation for the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), which will apply to certain companies for the first time from the 2024 financial year, the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG) published draft application guidelines shortly before Christmas 2023. In the last issue, we highlighted particularly relevant aspects of the materiality analysis process based on this.

In this issue, we build on this and provide an overview of the consideration of the value chain in the materiality analysis. We also present examples of the value chain and further aspects of practical implementation based on the EFRAG guidelines.

On the remaining pages, we give you an overview of the data points contained in the ESRS as presented by EFRAG. We also inform you about EFRAG publications such as the second set of

explanatory notes from the ESRS implementation Q&A platform and the draft XBRL taxonomy for ESRS and EU taxonomy disclosures. We also look at the draft of Amendment Standard No. 14 to amend GAS 18 Deferred Taxes published by the GASB on 27 February 2024.
