El reciente informe de KPMG, “Revival beyond the precipice. Consumer & retail M&A Outlook 2021”, asegura que “hay luz al final del túnel” para el mercado de fusiones y adquisiciones en la industria del retail global.
Si bien el mercado de fusiones y adquisiciones en el sector de consumo minorista sintió los efectos de la pandemia, ya que el volumen de transacciones cayó un 5% en 2020 (respecto a 2019), las operaciones comenzaron a virar de tendencia durante el tercer (-3% i.a) y cuarto trimestre de ese año (+6% i.a), colaborando a que la caída anual no fuera estrepitosa. Asimismo, el valor total de las operaciones realizadas durante 2020 fueron un 17% mayores al valor alcanzado en 2019, pasando de un total de US$ 245 mil millones a otro de US$ 287 mil millones.
