The Client

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller to join the team at a leading consumer finance company. As the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for managing a team of 5 finance professionals and ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of financial accounting reports. You will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and collaborate with other team leads in the finance department to oversee management reporting and treasury reports.

Major Responsibilities and Objectives

  • Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Financial Controller has responsibility and accountability for leadership, management, and development of the area under Finance. He/she has to collaborate effectively with other business functions, group functions and external organizations.
  • Assist the CFO to oversee and direct the functions including Financial Accounting, Budgeting and Reporting and financial control within Finance Department
  • Responsible for the timely preparation and interpretation of all financial information
  • Assist the CFO with high-level decisions on policies and strategies
  • Assess and adopt new accounting standards
  • Provide advice from financial impact and opportunity forecasting on new business initiatives
  • Evaluate business performance and prepare various financial analysis to provide advice to CFO
  • Initiatives changes in operational process for improvement in financial control and efficiency
  • Respond to ad hoc reporting request from shareholder
  • Lead the annual external audit
  • Participate in ad hoc projects and tasks as assigned, including due diligence and M&A evaluation
  • Assist in other ad hoc projects and tasks

Financial Accounting & Reporting and Financial Control Function

  • Establish a framework for external reporting that allows all necessary information to be provided on an accurate and timely basis in a highly efficient manner
  • Conduct various financial analysis and presentation to support strategic planning and provide recommendation to the management
  • Participate in the budgeting and forecasting process
  • Review and ensure accurate financial statements
  • Ensure full compliance with the accounting standards and the regulatory disclosure requirements, if any
  • Lead the internal and external audit process
  • Set up the accounting process and the full set of entries for new business initiatives and projects and drive the implementation in the Transaction Processing systems and related interface to general ledger
  • Establish and refine finance process and systems to improve the efficiency, accuracy and effectiveness
  • Decide and drive automation between Transaction Processing system and ledger and work with IT to fix problems in the Transaction Processing system to ensure accurate feed of financial data to ledger
  • Identify issues and provide a deeper understanding of the causes, effects and remedies
  • Maintain a sound control environment ensuring no material audit issues arise
  • Lead or assist in managing special projects that require financial expertise, detailed analysis of financial information or the development of sophisticated financial models to provide insight and understanding of the nature of the project
  • Respond to reporting request from the shareholder
  • Participate in other ad hoc projects and tasks as assigned

Requirements

  • University degree holder in Accounting, Finance or related disciplines
  • Minimum 10 years working experience in accounting / auditing / treasury and funding in financial institution or similar position; Previous M&A experience will be an advantage.
  • Qualified accountant (CPA/ACCA or equivalent)
  • Able to draft financial report in both English & Chinese
  • Proficient in MS Office application such as Word and Excel
  • Proficient in both spoken and written English and Chinese, with proficiency in Mandarin an advantage
  • Strong professional knowledge, business sense and problem solving skills
  • Good analytical, communication and presentation skills
  • Strong business acumen
  • Proactive, capable to work on project basis
  • Ability to handle multi-tasks & tight deadline jobs
  • Mature, self-motivated and able to work under pressure
