The HKSAR Government has released additional information on the Employment Support Scheme (ESS), which includes scheme details and responses to frequently asked questions.  Eligible employers may from 25 May to 14 June 2020, apply for the first tranche of wage subsidies intended to support June to August wages.

Employers should consider details and guidance provided by the Government on the ESS, eligibility to apply for the subsidies, and whether to seek Government support. We have prepared a summary of the requirements and key considerations for businesses when evaluating whether to apply and the implications of doing so, based on the details released by the Government on 19 May 2020.

If you require assistance with the ESS such as determining eligibility, understanding the requirements, modelling the financial impact, or determining the implications on head count requirements, please contact any member of our team.
