KPMG Webinar Invitation: Chinese Overseas Investment series - US
9:30 – 10:30 (Beijing time), 2nd April 2025
9:30 – 10:30 (Beijing time), 2nd April 2025
Background
President Donald Trump's second term has commenced with a focus on restructuring US trade policy. A central element of this agenda is the imposition of global tariffs, aimed at reducing the trade deficit and reinvigorating the US manufacturing sector by limiting imports. Effective February 4th, the US has implemented a 10% additional tariff on imported goods from China through an Executive Order signed by President Trump. Negotiations are underway to impose a 25% additional tariff on goods from Canada and Mexico. Previously, many Chinese companies have engaged in indirect exports to the US market through countries such as Mexico and Southeast Asian nations. The US government has indicated its intention to identify and address such trade practices with additional tariffs. In light of these developments, companies targeting the North American market are likely to consider accelerating the global deployment of their production and supply chains.
In response to these evolving trade policies, many companies are closely monitoring the potential impact on their operations. KPMG Global China Practice, in collaboration with KPMG US, will host a webinar on April 2nd, 2025, to provide insights and guidance. Experts from KPMG US specialising in Customs and Trade, Finance and Tax, and Investment will share their knowledge on the implications of the tariffs and offer essential information about investing in the US. Participants are encouraged to submit questions during registration to ensure that the webinar addresses their specific areas of interest. Our experts will endeavour to cover these topics during the webinar or provide follow-up information afterward.
