Tim has more than 20 years of professional experience and has worked extensively with First Nations, advising on both specific and general business matters. He has significant hands on knowledge working with unique circumstances surrounding economic development entities, taxation, trusts, settlements and claims, resource development, and other components essential to the Indigenous community including financial reporting requirements in the current regulatory environment. Appointed as KPMG’s National Leader – Indigenous Tax Services in 2020, Tim brings a deep understanding.
With extensive experience in Canadian tax compliance, advising under complex regulatory frameworks, and accounting for income taxes under Canadian, US, and IFRS standards Tim has built his breadth of experience. He has also served as a tax manager through secondment roles for Canadian subsidiaries of foreign companies and has contributed to acquisition and divestiture planning for inbound investments into Canada.
Over the years, Tim has led numerous projects with Indigenous communities, including tax exemption analysis under the Indian Act, structuring investment entities, and advising on business ventures to preserve tax-exempt status. His work focuses on creating strategies that support economic growth, ensuring compliance while maximizing financial benefits for First Nations communities.
