Torran is a Partner in KPMG’s Private Enterprise Tax practice and serves as the Prairies Private Enterprise Tax Clients & Markets Leader. With nearly three decades of experience, he helps private and public companies navigate Canadian corporate tax with clarity and confidence. His work spans the full tax lifecycle, from domestic and international tax planning to reorganizations, acquisitions, complex compliance, tax accounting, and financing structures.
Torran has deep experience across both renewable and traditional energy sectors. A former leader of KPMG Calgary’s Canadian Corporate Tax (CCT) practice and Energy Tax Leader, he brings a practical, forward-looking perspective rooted in years of hands-on experience with Canadian and multinational organizations.
Since becoming a tax partner in 2009, Torran has led major reorganizations, supported clients through dispute resolution, and provided guidance on cross border structuring, income tax accounting under IFRS and US GAAP, and internal control frameworks such as ICOFR and COSO.
As the Prairies Private Enterprise Tax Clients & Markets Leader, Torran plays a key role in connecting teams, insights, and opportunities across the region. He focuses on fostering collaboration, aligning market priorities, and bringing the full strength of KPMG’s expertise to clients and the broader business community.
A passionate contributor to the profession, Torran is the co-author of Canadian Resource Taxation and a long-time coordinator and lecturer for CPA Canada’s In-Depth Tax Program. He regularly speaks at industry forums and KPMG technical events, sharing practical insights drawn from years of advising tax leaders and executives across the country.
Torran is equally committed to his community, having served in various leadership roles with Calgary-based education and youth sports organizations, and he continues to support local initiatives that strengthen the community he calls home.
