Kurt’s practice focuses on all aspects of Canadian commodity tax, including the Goods and Services Tax (GST), the Harmonized Sales Tax (HST), provincial sales taxes, and Canadian realty taxes (including the B.C. Speculation and Vacancy Tax, the Vancouver Empty Homes Tax, the federal Underused Housing Tax, land/property transfer taxes, and the B.C. Foreign Buyers Tax). He regularly advises individuals and business clients in all sectors on a broad range of indirect tax planning mandates and has experience representing clients before the Canadian taxing authorities and the Tax Court of Canada in respect of audits, objections, appeals, and voluntary disclosure matters.
Prior to joining KPMG Law LLP, Kurt practiced in the Vancouver offices of both a national Canadian full-service law firm as well as a national boutique tax law firm.
