On 8 September 2009, on the hearing of a petition filed by The Insurance Commission of The Bahamas, British-American Insurance Company Limited (“BAICO”/”the Company”) was placed under Judicial Management and Juan (John) M. Lopez of KPMG Restructuring Limited was appointed the Judicial Manager (“JM”) of the Company.
On 20 July 2023, the Supreme Court of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas made an Order granting Juan M. Lopez leave to resign as the Judicial Manager, due to his retirement as Senior Partner of KPMG in The Bahamas, and also ordered that Mr. Simon J. S. Townend and Ms. Jean K. Green-Thompson of KPMG Restructuring Ltd be appointed Joint Judicial Managers (“JJMs”).
