On Thursday, 17 December 2020 our webinar on the new equity reconstruction reserve took place.
Businesses are weathering a second wave of COVID-19. Continuing support from governments is needed. Belgium is already thinking about recovery in a post-COVID-19 world. For that purpose, the equity reconstruction reserve has been introduced. This new regime allows companies to rebuild their equity in a tax-friendly way by exempting their reserved profits for financial years 2021-2023 for a total of their operational accounting loss of financial year 2020.
As the closing date of financial year 2020 nears, KPMG has hosted a workshop on the equity reconstruction reserve including following topics:
- Does my company qualify?
- What is the maximum amount of the equity reconstruction reserve?
- Which conditions should be met?
- Which formalities are to be fulfilled?
- Is there any interaction with other tax rules such as the limitation of deductions (70%-rule), the dividends-received deduction and tax consolidation?
