He was previously a policy adviser to the Commonwealth Attorney-General, and Shadow Ministers for Foreign Affairs and Defence. During that time, he contributed to the coordination of the 2009 Victorian Black Saturday bushfire response, and implementation of the national Emergency Alert telephone warning system for disasters. He also worked as an Australian diplomat in India for 3 years with a focus on building the education relationship, and as policy officer in the Commonwealth Department of Industry, Innovation and Science developing industry and digital policy.
Since joining KPMG in 2017, Ben has worked with State and Federal governments to deliver their strategies, business cases and stakeholder engagement priorities. His main focus has been on industry policy, with an emphasis of the role of digital connectivity and space technology in sustaining the growth of existing industries such as agribusiness, while developing new capabilities in emerging sectors.
