Sean Collins

National Leader, Valuations

KPMG Australia

Having industry knowledge and technical capabilities is one thing, but sharing that expertise beyond expectation is a source of motivation for Sean. “What differentiates you is your ability to talk in depth about the sector or situation at hand,” he says. “With clients, it is about the facilitation of change, and allowing them to enter into a transaction with a sound understanding of the value consequences.”

Sean is the National Leader of KPMG Australia's Valuations group, based in the Sydney office. He joined KPMG’s London office in 1999, and relocated to Sydney in 2003. He cites his team’s participation in supporting the development of the Australian infrastructure industry as a key achievement. “We have been involved since day one in the Australian infrastructure space. Australia has really led the way,” he says.

Prior to joining KPMG, Sean worked within the investment banking sector and for a number of leading accounting firms. Sean has prepared independent expert reports for transactions undertaken by a number of Australia’s largest companies, providing an opinion on if the transaction is in the shareholder’s best interests. His valuation experience stretches across a variety of industries, including financial services, infrastructure, logistics, energy and natural resources, industrial and consumer markets and media and entertainment.

Sean’s focus on his family and interest in sport balances his commitment to his work. “I follow rugby and cricket, play golf and cycle to the office regularly,” he says. For added fun, he has also spent over 15 years flying single-engine planes.
