Michael Bray

KPMG Fellow of Integrated Reporting, Deakin University | Director, Better Business Reporting

KPMG Australia

Michael’s vast career with KPMG has been underpinned by some core motivations – continually improving business reporting practices and being a leader of innovation in the energy and natural resources sector and broader infrastructure investment.

He guides his clients and team towards improving the clarity of corporate reporting profiles and effectiveness of reporting strategies. The goal is to improve capital allocation – essential to a competitive, dynamic energy sector. “It is about creating the market conditions to achieve widespread adoption of integrated reporting,” he says.

Michael is a project executive of the Australian Business Reporting Leaders Forum. Previously, he was the leader of KPMG’s Better Business Reporting Group. He is integral to KPMG collaborating with the International Integrated Reporting Council on widespread global adoption of its Integrated Reporting <IR> framework.

His insight stems from more than 40 years in audit and advisory services, and over 25 years as a KPMG Partner.

Michael was Chairman of KPMG’s Australian Energy & Natural Resources Group from 2009 to 2012. He is also a director of The Energy Policy Institute. He is the IIRC-appointed alternate to John Stanhope on the 2015 B20 Infrastructure and Investment Taskforce.

His wife Caroline, two children, cricket, football, horse racing and travel are key to his life outside the office.
