Patrick is the lead partner for the Family Owned Businesses segment in Belgium. His main goal is to bring together KPMG’s skills and expertise across the functions and service lines to enable more effective and higher value-add propositions to family-owned businesses. Prior to joining KPMG, Patrick spent 30 years in audit and business advisory, where he last held the position of Managing Partner Middle Market EMEA. He also spent over 2 years with Spencer Stuart, one of the global leaders in Executive Search, where he focused on C-level positions across Europe as well as Board composition and Independent Directors. Patrick has extensive experience in financial audits of large and complex companies in a variety of industries, with a focus on manufacturing companies active on a global scale – he has audited and advised hundreds of companies ranging from SME’s to European headquarters of global MNC’s. In addition, Patrick is also the co-founder and co-Managing Director of the Institute for Family Businesses, the leading knowledge center for owner-managed midsized family businesses as well as the co-founder and Director/Treasurer of Family Business Network Belgium, the unique membership-based organization for the 200 largest listed and privately held Belgian Family Businesses. Throughout his career Patrick has lectured at different universities on auditing, accounting, valuation and internal controls subjects and family business specific topics. He has also co-authored four books on family businesses and regularly speaks at seminars and congresses.
