Webcast overview
KPMG LLP (KPMG) invites you to a one-hour TradeWatch Webcast that will address recent regulatory changes impacting trade with Chinese companies and industry-leading practices for conducting necessary due diligence. In October 2022, the Bureau of Industry and Security (“BIS”) amended the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”) to implement new controls targeting China’s semiconductor manufacturing, advanced chips, and supercomputing sectors. As a result, U.S. companies are restricted from working with Chinese entities involved in producing these items and should develop internal controls to ensure compliance.
This discussion will be moderated by John Anderson, Managing Director in the Global Export Controls & Sanctions service line. John will be joined by his colleagues Thomas Hickey and Sydney Palmer, who will share their experiences and offer practical insights for navigating diligence and compliance with the recent rules.
Topics include:
- Background and purpose of the new China controls;
- Assessing the impact of the new rules;
- Methods for understanding your customer base and identifying red flags;
- Tips for conducting due diligence and ensuring your company remains compliant.
