Guyana’s 2024 budget was presented on 15 January 2024.
Guyana’s 2024 budget—presented 15 January 2024—proposes the following tax-related measures.
- Reduction in freight charges
- Expansion of part-time job programme
- Support to small businesses—lower interest rates
- Removal of duty and value added tax (VAT) on sports equipment, technology, and fire extinguishers
- Increase in old age pension
- Increase in public assistance
- “Supporting the vulnerable”
- National Insurance Scheme (NIS)—increases in minimum pension, survivor’s pension, and invalidity pension
- Support to University of Guyana graduates
- Allowance for life and medical insurance premiums paid
- Increase in personal allowance
