New extensions to relief measures under some of Canada’s coronavirus (COVID-19) support programs may benefit certain businesses and individuals.
- The Department of Finance announced that it will allow eligible employers subject to capacity-limiting restrictions of 50% or more to benefit from the “local lockdown program” until 12 March 2022.
- In addition, these employers only have to meet a reduced 25% revenue decline threshold requirement to qualify for the program during this period.
- Further, eligible workers in provinces or territories that have introduced similar capacity-limiting restrictions will also be able to access benefits under the “Canada worker lockdown benefit” until 12 March 2022.
Previously, these temporary relief measures were set to expire on 12 February 2022.
