U.S. directive, general license and FAQs regarding Belarus-related sanctions

Belarus-related sanctions
The U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) today released items regarding Belarus-related sanctions.
- Belarus Directive 1 [PDF 109 KB] generally prohibits (1) any transaction that evades or avoids, has the purpose of evading or avoiding, causes a violation of, or attempts to violate any of the prohibitions contained in the directive; and (2) any conspiracy formed to violate any of the prohibitions in the directive.
- Belarus General License 5 [PDF 100 KB] authorizes the winding down of transactions involving two specific Belarusian companies.
- An updated set of “frequently asked questions” (FAQs)—there are 10 new FAQs and one updated FAQ—read the OFAC release on the FAQs.
