Poland: Grants, subsidies for zero-emission vehicles

A new support program for zero-emission vehicles that is intended to reduce air pollutant emissions

Support program for zero-emission vehicles is intended to reduce air pollutant emissions

The Ministry of Climate and Environment on 2 July 2021 announced a new support program that is intended to reduce air pollutant emissions by decreasing consumption of high-emission fuels in transport, primarily by supporting the purchase or lease of zero-emission vehicles.

The support will be granted in the form of subsidies made to individuals for the purchase of zero-emission vehicles and subsidies for fees specified in lease agreements. The subsidies may be granted to finance the purchase or lease of an electric vehicle having a value of up to PLN 225,000 (approximately U.S. $59,000). Applications to the program can be submitted beginning 12 July 2021.

The targeted beneficiaries of the program initially are natural persons not conducting business activity. Later, the program will be expanded to companies, local government units, research facilities, cooperative societies, farmers, religious associations, and NGOs.

Finally, the program will apply for banks that, through lease companies, distribute lease subsidies including those covering long-term rentals.
