Centralised models are making way for more bespoke approaches to urban life; smart, digital and customer-centric solutions are replacing traditional urban planning. Meanwhile the predominant need is to meet environmental challenges in the face of the climate crisis.

We consider three of the main trends on greener town and cities, technology and moving away from the centralised-city model to the ‘15-minute city’ that are influencing UK towns and cities and ask: how can civic leaders work to bring about the changes needed and capture the opportunities available to successfully shape their locales for a sustainable future?
