Autumn Budget: What do we expect to see?

KPMG UK’s predictions for the Chancellor’s Budget due to take place on 27 October 2021.

KPMG UK’s predictions for the Chancellor’s Budget due to take place on 27 October 2021.

The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak, will present the second UK Budget of 2021 on 27 October 2021. The Spring Budget, on 3 March 2021, was most notable for the introduction of the ‘Super Deduction’ for capital expenditure and the forthcoming corporation tax increase but it was silent on a number of other initiatives that could be explored to raise revenues. We will have to wait until 27 October to find out if the forthcoming Autumn Budget will be different but, in the meantime, read on to find out our thoughts on what we are most likely (and unlikely) to see the Chancellor announce. You can also now register for our Budget webinar which will be taking place on 29 October 2021.

If you prefer to read our written Autumn Budget predictions then please take a look at this blog post from Tim Sarson, UK Head of Tax Policy, and Sharon Baynham, UK Director of Tax Policy.

Alternatively, you can listen to Tim discussing what we will see with Vicki Heard, UK Head of Tax, and Jo Bateson, Partner, Family Office and Private Client, in a recently recorded LinkedIn Live session.

As usual, we will be providing initial commentary on the Chancellor’s announcements on Budget day itself and then following this up with further detail in a special Budget edition of Tax Matters Digest at the end of the week. Our Budget webinar will also take place at 12pm on Friday 29 October 2021 and the registration page is now open for you to register your interest in attending.
