“KPMG has been a signatory of the UNGC since 2002 and is proud of the progress made by its member firms in working towards its 10 principles. Over the last 12 months, we have continued our support for the UNGC with projects such as the Sustainable Development Goals Industry Matrix, and we will continue our support going forward.” - John Veihmeyer, Chairman, KPMG International

Across the KPMG network, we understand that we serve the public trust and play a critical role in helping to solve some of the world’s most complex problems. As trusted advisers to the public, private and non-governmental sectors, KPMG member firms play a leading role in helping organizations to meet the UN’s wider goals and objectives, including our membership of the UN Global Compact (UNGC) since 2002.

The UNGC is a voluntary framework for businesses to align their operations and strategies with 10 principles covering human rights, labor, the environment and anti-corruption.

Our Communication on Progress report below highlights how the KPMG network's 174,000 people around the world are empowered to contribute their time, skills, passions and expertise to improve their communities and society at large, in line with UNGC principles.

KPMG responds in various ways to the four core focus areas that the Global Compact:

  • Human Rights
  • Environment
  • Labor Standards
  • Anti-Corruption

KPMG International also participates in the UNGC's LEAD initiative. LEAD enables our global network of member firms to deepen our commitment to the UNGC by implementing its Blueprint for Corporate Sustainability Leadership. The Blueprint helps businesses demonstrate leadership in three areas:

  • integrating the 10 principles into strategies and operations
  • taking action in support of broader UN goals and issues
  • engaging with the UNGC.
