  The new standard on financial instruments is effective from 1 January 2018 and introduces a new impairment model. There is a misconception that the impact of the new impairment requirements is not significant to corporates. However, this may not be the case. This issue highlights a number of challenges that corporates may face when implementing the new impairment rules and considers possible actions for corporates.
