Artificial intelligence for less food waste

Approximately 175 million loaves of bread are sold a year in the Norwegian groceries trade. Mesterbakeren accounts for one fourth of the sales. Having enough bread on the shelves is consequently essential.

The challenge of supplying freshly-made bread and baked goods is closely linked with the objective of offering a fresh product to customers in more than 600 stores in Norway – while ensuring as little food waste as possible.

Uses robots to pick, pack, and track products

With 28 physical stores and a large web shop, Barnas Hus is Norway’s leading children’s and baby goods chain. As a result of large-scale market changes, KPMG Norway was given the assignment of creating a supply chain platform that makes it easier for warehouse and store to communicate with each other.

Today, Barnas Hus uses robots to pick, pack, and track each product on its way to the stores. This has meant that store managers and customers get the right products faster, easier, and in a more sustainable way.
