Customers and clients all over the world are increasingly interested in environmental performance of products they purchase and consume. If your company is supplying to companies falling under EU ESG regulations or having bold and ambitious emission reduction strategies, it is only a matter of time when will you receive request for providing information about emissions and environmental impacts linked to your products.

The importance of product stewardship is being recognized by regulators as well, with some countries imposing obligatory requirements for disclosing on climate and environmental impacts of certain categories of products. There are already tools available for assessing the product’s impacts on environment, such as life cycle assessment and product carbon footprint methodologies, and we are here to help you implement them.

Life cycle assessment evaluates and quantifies environmental impact during each life cycle stage of a product, from extraction of raw materials and production to the product end of life. It is a strategic tool that can help you:

  • Gain competitive advantage
  • Get in line with sustainable procurement practices of your clients
  • Compare your products to the similar products from your industry
  • Identify possibilities for sustainable product design and implementation of circular economy principles, as well as lower the carbon footprint of a product.

When performing Life Cycle Assessment, a specific set of standards, namely ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 are followed, equipping organizations with a comprehensive methodology for setting the goal and scope of the LCA, model the system to be analyzed, collect the data and report on the results. If following ISO 14067 standard as well, the Product Carbon Footprint can be developed, assessing only climate impacts-greenhouse gas emissions as impact category throughout the product life cycle.
